Scoutpost Ne is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
  • It is a member of the Pirian Domain in the Factorium Subsector of Gakghang Sector.

Prior to the Empress Wave, Scoutpost Ne was part of (officially, the "near side" of) a two-system scout training complex, the other part being Scoutpost Fa. An extensive shipyard focused on scouting service needs paired with a hybrid service academy and university that effectively was the system's local government. While officially everything was run for the benefit of the scout academy, in practice local law enforcement could best be described as "lax" for anything that did not directly injure someone or damage personal property.

There was a bit of warning about the Empress Wave, primarily when Scoutpost Fa fell to it. The survivors recovered quickly from the typical damage, and as of 1105 things are pretty much back to normal aside from reduced population and effective technology level, both of which mean that much of the highport and startown are well-preserved ruins until these two factors are restored. The survey functions that used to be run in Scoutpost Fa are now being performed in Scoutpost Ne, officially on a "temporary" basis but one that has lasted decades. That said, Scoutpost Fa's proximity to the Corsair Lyceum is reason enough to keep trainee scouts out of Scoutpost Fa.

There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Government (G)[edit]

Scoutpost Ne is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Scoutpost Ne has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
